Pond liner repair kits

A slowly dropping water level doesn't always mean a new liner. Most small punctures and tears can be repaired with a patch kit, saving you the cost and work of relining.

Find the leak first

• Rule out evaporation: in hot weather, ponds can lose several centimetres a week.
• Check the waterfall and stream: many "leaks" are water escaping around rocks or a low edge.
• Let the level drop: turn off the pump and let the pond settle. The leak is usually at or just above where the level stops falling.

Choose the right kit

Match the repair kit to your liner material. EPDM and PVC need different adhesives and patches. Clean and dry the area around the hole, apply primer if supplied, and allow the full cure time before refilling.
