Pond Vacuums & Skimmers

Pond vacuums and surface skimmers

Sludge on the pond floor and leaves on the surface release nutrients that feed algae and pollute the water. Vacuums and skimmers remove them without draining the pond or disturbing fish.

Pond vacuums

A pond vacuum sucks sludge, silt and debris from the floor, liner and planting shelves, discharging dirty water into a garden bed. Look for interchangeable nozzles and enough suction depth for your pond. OASE PondoVac vacuums and the PondMAX pond vacuum are designed for this job.

Surface skimmers

Skimmers draw in water from the surface and collect floating leaves, pollen and debris before they sink. Place the skimmer on the downwind side of the pond, where debris naturally collects.

When to use them

Vacuum in spring and autumn, or whenever sludge builds up. Run a skimmer through leaf-drop season. For quick daily jobs, see nets and cleaning tools.
