Preformed Ponds

Preformed ponds

A preformed pond is a rigid shell moulded to shape, with planting shelves built in. It is the quickest way to build a leak-free garden pond, and a good choice for courtyards, small gardens and first-time pond builders.

Installing a preformed pond

  • Mark the outline and dig slightly larger and deeper than the shell, following the shelves.
  • Add a sand bed and check the shell is level in every direction.
  • Backfill with sand while filling the pond with water at the same rate, so the shell stays supported.

Pump and filter for a preformed pond

Check the pond's capacity in litres and choose equipment to match. Small ponds often suit an underwater filter or all-in-one unit, with a fountain pump for movement.

Freestanding ponds

PondMAX also offers freestanding ponds that sit above ground, ideal for patios and balconies where digging isn't possible. PondMAX preformed waterfalls can be combined with a pond to create a stream or cascade.
